3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
All the progress I have made, which is considerable, is not only vulnerable and fragile, it's also a continuous effort! I am having to continually correct my orientation, calm my mind and re-learn things. This does of course have a positive dimension, which is that I am protected from complacency and stagnation.

We may think the ideal is to be without them but I am now convinced that conscious beings NEED some kind of present threat to maximize wellbeing - not zero stress but optimum stress! We actually become ill without some form of ongoing challenge. This acquired knowledge is a significant relief - I'm no longer chasing after something I not only can never get but would be bad for me anyway.

From the view of Higher Consciousness, it is consequently impossible to get bored with this character! It will have something to do right to the last breath. I've come a long way from the many times I simply did not want to play anymore.

I note with some interest that this character unlike many others has never been allowed to fail. There's always been someone to pick me up, a reason to carry on or just enough blessing to keep me going. Circumstances outside the character itself sustained it.

All this now puts me in the ideal state of being devoid of arrogance yet full of gratitude and self-esteem, and a peace of mind that stems not from the absence of threats but understanding what I am. One day, I may become broken again, but meanwhile I am profoundly grateful for every day I am not!

Happiness is not something far away. It is to be found neither in fame nor in popularity. When you live with integrity, your hearts begin to fill with a happiness as vast as the universe. It’s about being true to yourself and starting from where you are.
