3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
I had two "bad dreams" last night, one at the beginning of the night and one at the end. It's rare indeed that I remember my dreams and rarer still two recall bad ones. This is possibly because I watched a ghost story on TV!

My training teaches me that the "plot" of the dream is irrelevant and what's real is how I felt. In the first I was simply curious and in the second I was a disembodied observer and I felt indifferent like I'd seen it all before, and grisly as it was, it was kinda silly.

The conclusion I draw is that I am achieving my spiritual aim - detachment. In general I am responding the challenges exactly how I would wish to. A major breakthrough has been the realization that the goal of life is NOT the absence of challenges. In fact, without challenges, life has no purpose.

It is equally important of course not to be overwhelmed by challenges, and that is achieved by keeping your focus on the moment - on the difference you're making right now.
