Two Kriegsmarine minesweepers are sunk by mines and vessel R-123 is sunk off Le Havre by Allied aircraft 

In Italy...
British 8th Army attacks around Pofi and Arce 
US 5th Army attacks up the Albano road but suffers heavy tank losses 

In the Atlantic...
In a running battle with USN convoy escorts, U-549 sinks USS Block Island and damages USS Barr but is then sunk by USS Ahrens and USS Eugene E. Elmore.

In the Pacific...
Japanese vessels Horaisan Maru and Shoken Maru are sunk by USN submarine Silversides
USN Destroyer Squadron 41 bombards New Ireland

On Biak Island...
The first tank-to-tank engagement in the Pacific War takes place - a Japanese counter-attack drives back US 162nd Infantry Regiment

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Whilst finance and low client numbers are disappointing at the moment, home life is utterly glorious! My relationships with Son and Missus are totally joyous. Home is a totally fabulous place to be, so there are plenty of positives to be grateful for.

Today is an opportunity to "give back" and be selfless, supporting Missus at the funeral of an old work colleague. Though there is no emotional or intellectual interest on my part, it will do me good to put myself entirely on one side for a while and just be there for someone I love.
