3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
This Christmas Day promises to be the best ever, as for the first time I expect the complete absence of any form of tension. I'm sharing it exclusively with people whose company I enjoy - Son and Missus. It gets even better in the later afternoon when Missus departs to spend the second half of Christmas with Daughter, and it will be "Lads Only" for 48 hours.

Destiny has deprived me of a big happy family Christmas experience, but the feedback I get from those I talk to is that I'm not missing anything I want. For most folks with a wider family, the whole thing is a stressful chore.

I have reached the point in my life where I absolutely refuse to tolerate being treated badly by anyone and shun any company I find irritating, and that especially includes blood relatives. I find the company of the lot of them truly ghastly - they've all got personal issues they seem bent on inflicting on each other. I am most profoundly disappointed with the character of the nuclear family I was brought up in, and having cast off the shackles of Christian principles four years ago, my intolerance reached its inevitable conclusion this year in the severing of all relations with the lot of them.

This Stalinist purge has included Daughter, who puberty transformed from the sweet apple of my eye to one of the most hideous narcissistic greedy selfish and vindictive personalities I've ever had the misfortune of coming across. To purge my home of this highly toxic influence has transformed the atmosphere to one of joyful bliss! As with the other blood relatives, I have lost all interest in any kind of relationship with her.

The two surviving close relationships, with Missus and Son are the complete opposite experience - absolute pure joy! Most days are true paradise, and I am gratefully savouring every minute. My life currently lacks nothing!
