3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
I have known for a while that what you focus on determines how you feel, and that your feelings determine your lines of thought. I have long thought that the best place to keep your awareness is RIGHT HERE RIGHT NOW, but I'm realizing that it's not quite that simple. The circumstances of the present moment may be uncomfortable, stimulating negative lines of thought.

As well as being present, you need to be focused on the right thing within the present. I am still fine-tuning the ideal spot for my focus to rest on. I am experimenting with the Reiki exercise of focusing on my connection to the Universe, submission to my Higher Consciousness, and using breathing as a physical focus, putting my ego to sleep. The Weekend Job is an ideal testing ground for testing focus, so we'll see how we go today!

8.TRIVIA
The quality of dreams depends, at least in part, on the stage of sleep in which the dreams occur. Dreams during REM tend to be more bizarre and detailed and have story line. Dreams in stages 1 and 2 of sleep are simpler and shorter. Deep-sleep dreams tend to be diffused and may be about nothing more than a color or emotion.

9.  ZEN WISDOM
We are not merely passive pawns of historical forces nor victims of the past. We can shape and direct history. Renewing faith in the capacity of people—individually and collectively—to create the future, is the most pressing task facing us.
