3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
May begins on a calm and settled note. Nothing bad happened in April but my mind was unsettled, mainly over "Daughter Trauma". My Reiki training tells me that when strong emotions are aroused, one must look deeper within oneself for the cause. It has in the event been difficult to put my finger on it.

I have also learned that whatever the other person is like, if I'm the one that's upset then the problem is mine. So what is my problem? I have a problem with people who have no compassion - I perceive them - with some justification - as a threat. There is no way to be accepted by such people, or for that matter to be acceptable to them. As Indira Gandi once said, "you cannot shake hands with a clenched fist".

Going right to the very primal root, I think the primal raw nerve trod on has been tribal discord, a fundamental threat to survival, and yet still being forced to share the same turf, the "turf" in this case being Missus. History has shown that there is no simple resolution to internecine disputes. Only when the desire for peace is sufficiently strong and mutual can there be progress. In the interim, the best policy is "safe zones" - enclaves where the other cannot intrude, so there is not a constant "threat".

On the spiritual level, the answer is to shift awareness higher, upward out of the drama and rest in the eternal peace of simply being. It is a new month and a new beginning, a time to re-adjust energies in order to maintain balance.
