2. TODAY IN MY LIFE

3. TODAY'S SELF-OBSERVATION
Where I have parted company with the major world religions and humanism is over "goodness". I simply do not believe that the universe is fundamentally "good" that evil is a disease and that good will always ultimately triumph. In fact, the universe is fundamentally neutral, and positive and negative energy emanate from it in waves. As a wave requires both a positive and negative element, so you can't have one without the other. The final outcome of the Universe is neither "good/order" nor "evil/chaos" but neutrality - from neutrality it was born and to neutrality it will return.

It is now scientific fact that there is no such thing as nothing - it's purely human idea with no basis in reality. Even in a vacuum, particles and waves spontaneously appear out of it. Energy is in any case constantly present in the form of the Higgs Field.

The upshot of this is that I reject the idea of any fundamental spiritual need to be a "good person". The question is not "what should you be", but rather "what temporary life experience do you want to have?"

I happen to have decided that I want to make a positive difference, but because of the balance of forces and my limited powers, that difference has to be restricted to that which is receptive and in range. Clearly that involves positive ("good/creative") energy, but in self-defence, I also have no issues with wielding negative ("dark/destructive") energy.

My inner peace does not derive from "being good", but in fulfilling my chosen purpose. With my purpose clear and bound by no philosophy but my own, there is no internal discord, and the peace that results is I can tell you most blissful indeed.

9. THE WISDOM I'VE LEARNED FROM OTHERS
"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." - Leo Buscaglia
